I found it interesting that the CYA is in the paper very much lately. First it was for the guards beating on the inmates and now there is an article about the hand cleanser still being used after it was determined to be the cause of death for an inmate. What is going on in these facilities? Does anyone care? I know everyone is in there because of a crime committed but do we have the sole power to determine how bad we are to treat people?

I was up watching the news last night thinking of all the things I must get done for my children, for work and for school. I started to watch a family mourning for their son who was lost in Iraq, as many soldiers are daily. My supervisor's brother is currently stationed there and every day she is checking to see if he is on the list. It is really heartwrenching. It prompts me to take on another perspective especially after hearing a mom last night on the news stating that she is thankful for the 26 wonderful years that her son was with her.

It was an interesting day this afternoon. I am trying to get my website together and needed to go and take pictures at DeVinci's. I went today and just figured out how to use a digital camera! Yes, I am behind the times I know, but am learning slowly but surely. It was neat. The workers may have been a little bothered by me going there, but smiled and did basically what I asked. Now I have to figure how to get my scanning items and pictures on to the website. I'm so nervous! I lagged a little and now am paying for it bigtime!

After class last night, I was very interested to check Joe's blog. We discussed in class what he had written about Facnet and whether it should be public to students or private for faculty only. I feel that there should be a certant extent of privacy when faculty is posting comments regarding students. At the same time, I also feel that it is our right to be able to view what may or may not affect us. Then again, it should be discussed among faculty in private, and if any changes are to happen then we would get notified. It's difficult for me to make a decision and feel strongly towards one side vs. another. I think it was a good point last night in class that we are not against each other. We are all on the same team. The professors are here to help us succeed and we are here because of the same goal. There should be no "battle" between us. After reading Joe's entries, I am eager to enter the Facnet site, but know that I will as if I've read someone's personal diary or something.
This is not an issue compared to preparing our websites. I am having such a hard time in photo shop. I need to sit down and play around with the computer, but also need someone to advise because I just don't know. I know I can eventually learn but, "do we really have that much time?" is what I'm afraid of.

Thinking about Web Project

I am currently working on my website for the class assignment. I've been thinking alot about how I want it to look and just drawing blanks...I've checked other websites but not finding anything appealing to me.
I was given the "ok" to create the website for Devinci's but now must set some time aside to speak with one of the owners, Chris Trotter. I am both excited and scared because I want to do a great job.
I feel behind in the technological field, so I went and checked The Record in the technology news.
I could not believe what I was reading, kind of cool, but so unnecessary, my thoughts anyhow. Getting notified when your laundry is done?
Are we so tied up to computers that we actually need this stuff to be online??? I guess so....

I was advised to spend more time on my blog, and I am trying. It if difficult though, because I'm still in dire need of a home computer. I had money to purchase one, but other things came up, like repairing our second vehicle. I was told not too get to personal...yet not so general. But I want to write about things that are of my interest and my family is one of them. I am married with two children and because I go to school, we need a second vehicle. My son plays T-ball and needs to get to practice and games on Thursdays. My daughter will be start dance class soon so we must get my husband's truck fixed.
I feel the need to discuss my children because they are my huge incentive for finishing school.

Every day is a busy day...so when my husband and I have a chance, we like to either go off on an adventure, or to a movie. Last Friday, we went to see the remake of Dawn of the Dead. I still get scared watching movies of this sort, but I enjoy them. It was scary thinking of the whole idea. What if we woke up one morning and had to defend our lives? I know it is a little far fetched, but doesn't give me a good feeling. It was a cool movie. I mean, it wasn't the best I've seen, but overall I would see it again.
I don't know if it is too much like the original Dawn of the Dead.

I was not able to make it to the Modesto Bee tour last week. I was ill and stayed home from work as well. I tried to rest the whole day to build up strength, but it just wasn't happening. I feel as if I missed a very important class session, but can't help it if I didn't feel well. I checked a few blogs and found Joe's to be very interesting and personal.

I haven't been able to get here to post anything. It doesn't look very good, I know, but it has been hard. This is the first semester that I have so many things going. This class is very important.....online journalism, at the same time, my family is my primary concern, as with anyone I'm sure.

I was going through some of the blogs, and noticed that Brian has an entry on there regarding the movie, Passion of the Christ. I have not seen this movie, but am very interested in doing so. We tried to go and watch it the first weekend it premiered, but it was sold out until that evening. We ended up watching another movie.
I must admit that I'm hesitant to view it because I'm not sure what to expect. It has had mixed reviews, but most are stating it is an excellent movie to watch. Perhaps this weekend I will go.

I am trying to work and work simultaneously and I'm really not doing a great job. I usually can multitask and in the job that I have, you must be. It's not always a good thing though. I have read that it can take you away from concentration on what's important and needs to get done. Is Multitasking the best solution?

I read the article My So Called Blog last night and must say that I was enlightened about the depth of blogging especially when it comes to teenagers. I also checked out another websit for the whole "blogging scene" and this looks very commercial. There are so many challenges in developing for that age, that this can be an "escape" for them.

I heard on the radio this morning that a woman not only found her daughter after six years of believing she was dead, but proved it was her daughter by using a strand of hair and testing her DNA.
